Your credit history
Your credit history is one of the most important things you can posses in this world, as nearly all of our
biggest purchases requires credit to finance. Whether it be the mortgage on your house, a car loan or a loan to
consolidate all your other loans, your credit history is the one thing that will ultimately determine your
acceptance and eligibility.
If you do indeed have a poor history of making late payments or even defaulting on loans, this is something that
will stay with you wherever you go. But, rectifying your dismal financial history is a lot easier than many think
and by taking the right steps, it may be a simple case of consolidating loans, rectifying errors and bringing your
debt back in control.
The initial steps needed to heal your poor history.
The first step you need to take when considering your credit history is to check your credit score and personal
record. From here you will be able to assess where the bad points are located and make the necessary amendments
towards a better history, and a better future also.
If you have a bad history with one particular credit card, you must attempt to pay this off and cancel the card.
Once the card is no longer in use, your credit history with this particular company will be erased. Move all your
other debts to one card also, as this will help you keep things in control.
Ideally, during your credit consolidation period, you should try to bring the total credit used below 30% of the
maximum limit on the respective card. Once you have achieved this, your credit history will begin to heal and your
credit score will consequently rise.
Just by following these few simple steps, your credit history will begin to present itself as a record of
someone more reliable and worthy of credit.
